Christopher proposed at the top of a lighthouse in Newburyport, Massachusetts, precisely at 61 1⁄2 Water Street. This location is stunning and unique, but is profound as it is the very spot where my grandparents celebrated a cherished wedding anniversary decades ago. The romantic gesture is incredibly meaningful to me, as it not only creates a treasured memory for us but links us to the beautiful, perfect love of my grandparents. To share such a special moment in a place filled with family history and love means the world to me, and it marks the beginning of a beautiful chapter in our lives together.
How did we meet?
As high school sweethearts that never attended the same school, our journey is simple. We met through mutual friends, who introduced us in September of 2018. We walked through the mall, and then watched a movie. Neither of us were sure about one another, I had never met a person like Melaina, and she was not impressed by my chopstick skills. Our friends urged us to go on a second date right after, and that is where we were able to be ourselves, and really get to know one another. We laughed about dipping sauces, and I knew if we could laugh about that, we could laugh about anything. We still even talk about it today. After that, we both saw how special the other person was, and cannot imagine a world without that second date.
